psst, any suggestions for good 1 screen 4 player pc games?
Overcooked 1 – incredible game if you want a real challenge as a team, but it may put your friendship to the test.
(Overcooked 2 is okay as a sequel but it’s laggy, it’s got long loading times, it has a confusing UX (good luck figuring out how to select your character), and is just overall less polished, so I wouldn’t recommend it.)
You have 4 joycons therefore you’re rich
now give me US$30
castle crashers

Risk of Rain (original or returns, fuck 2)
Magicka 1 or 2
Hammerwatch (original only)

Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime.
Lethal League.
Crawl. Has to be one of my fav couch games.
Was this as simple as connecting over Bluetooth? I recently put a PC in my living room, but I’m currently using a PS controller. Would love to be able to lounge with split joy cons like I can on the switch.
Crawl.
I hate that I can never get 4 friends in a room together, then even rarer to pay attention to this game long enough. The game is so fucking hype, as is the launch trailer.

I used to collect tons of local multiplayer couch co-op games back in college when I had 3 other gamer housemates. Lots of junk but some gems. My favorite has to be gang beasts and Blur (you’ll have to pirate that one these days - think Mario kart if it was made in the style of need for speed). Also golf with your friends has good local multiplayer support as well as olliolli2 if you’re into side scrolling skateboarding. Then there’s chaotic cooperative games like overcooked, moving out, and out of space, as well as Magicka 2. For a Mario party type game there’s pummel party, and a good twin stick shooter is assault android cactus.
Magicka and Magicka 2 were so much fun when I had roommates. It’s not nearly as fun when the other players are not sitting on the couch next to you. Plus, my friends these days don’t enjoy randomly blowing up from a spell gone awry, which, you know, is the funniest part.
Yeah those spell mishaps really add a lot of fun! I remember we were always accidentally blowing ourselves up with the wrong combinations or doing electrical spells when wet. Then there’s the exit to desktop spell that exits the game lmao.
is pummel party good? i grew up on Mario Party 3. also, would it be joycon friendly, or should I get out the full-size controllers?
Pummel party is a lot of fun. Not all of the mini games are great (read: functional) especially if you add workshop games, but the core mechanics and the official minigames are a blast (pun intended, there are items like rockets and shotguns rather than your normal shells)
I unfortunately can’t really say since I’ve only played an hour with a friend who is really into it, and I never grew up playing any of the Mario party games. But I know a few people who really like it so it can’t be that bad I guess haha. I also can’t speak to joycons because we use Xbox controllers, I think there are some mini games that rely on Xbox layout / colors so that might be rough
Stick Fight is very fun and simple
Gauntlet tends to be my go-to for these situations.
There’s versions on Steam real cheap that run great on the deck. Not that emulation is hard but it can occasionally be a little janky so it’s nice to not have to worry about it. Tends not to be super sensitive to lag. It’s easy to pick up and learn. It’s fun to play as a one-off, but also fun for a regularly recurring experience too. You don’t need a full controller either- I often use my RetroBit Genesis controllers, but I’m sure a joycon would be fine.
Hello why would you need this asking for Nin…a friend
