Digging into the data a bit further, it looks like Trump is on track to substantially improve his total margin, and total votes from 2020:

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/florida-results

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election

2024, with 80% of the vote in and Trump has 5,327,373, Harris has 4,200,195.

    2020: 5,668,731 for Trump, 5,297,045 for Biden.

    So. Brace for impact.

Its 80% in. These numbers will move quite a bit, but Trump most definitely on track to improve on his 2020 numbers. Think about the subtext of your argument. The implicit argument you are making is that Trump has the possibility to win less than 15% of the remaining vote, which is just absurd.

Stop thinking with your feelings and how you wish things were Lemmy.

That’s kinda how things work here/online. Did you not notice how every poll with trump up was downvoted to oblivion?

I’m fully aware and have been screaming into the void to get this shit-parade to stop getting high on their own supply. But moderation has cultivated a specific kind of echo chamber that is deeply toxic to material reality.

Not sure what you’re talking about, so far everything is going exactly as I called it, including Trump/Scott in Florida, Trump/Cruz in Texas, and Trump in Iowa.

I don’t think it’s moderation. I think people are genuinely less capable these days at processing news with which they disagree.

That and I think Lemmy skews young, I bet a lot of folks here don’t know anyone socially who would vote for trump.

Why do you think it’s moderation?

And why on Earth would you think Lemmy doesn’t skew young?

I mean, are we at least all in agreement that if he wins he cheated?

All of the russian interference, the lies, the projection of cheating.

If he loses he’ll say it was cheating. I think if he wins it WAS indeed cheating and should not be taken as legitimate.

It takes an awful lot to undo Citizens United and while they could try and put up more safeguards, without Congress it’s not going to happen. I like to think Dems getting Congress would lead to systematic change, but the moderate Democrats are too craven to fix what is effectively legal cheating.

Not sure what they can do about some of the illegal creating, though, like the bomb threats.

He cheated in 2020 and Democrats didn’t find it a significant enough priority to hold him accountable. That ship has sailed.

One of the worst places to move to because of climate change and political climate

People should move away and make the irrelevant cesspool the majority there want it to be
