So we can make up anything we want about Tiger Woods, and no one can disagree because then they would be defending a cheater?

He’s definitely a bot. Could be artificial or organic though.

politics @lemmy.world•Barack Obama praises Texas Democrats as state legislature moves to end special session without passing new electoral maps
42·11 months agoWhy is that a bad thing? Should Democrats stay in their echo chamber and Republicans stay in theirs?
It’s also frustrating that people keep saying SpaceX “relies on taxpayer money” as if we’re just giving them money for no reason. It’s all contracts! SpaceX only gets money for providing some kind of service. They’re not being bailed out or anything. The Musk hate is justified but so misdirected.
How are there so many people in this thread talking with such confidence and yet know absolutely nothing? SpaceX is the reason NASA doesn’t need to rely on Russia to get astronauts to and from the ISS, so that’s one huge benefit. And Starlink is in such a low orbit that their orbits are constantly decaying and will burn up in the atmosphere without any orbit corrections. So there will never be a chain reaction crash.
What do you mean little to show for it?

I think the main issue is that there is a discrepancy between what a male and female has to do in order to pass. I do agree though, if a woman is able to meet the requirements she should be able to do whatever a man can.

3·2 years agoEvolution isn’t some sentient force striving for perfection. There is a lot of retarded stuff that we have evolution to thank for. This could just be a side effect of some other trait that normally helps the fish survive. Plus, earthquakes don’t happen often enough to affect evolution in the long run.

0·2 years agoWhat do you mean from that distance? By the time he shot her they were <5 feet apart.
You’re right, it doesn’t change the fact that the cop completely failed at controlling the situation and she is now dead because of that, but it muddy’s the water and creates conversations that don’t need to be had (like this).
I don’t know why you seem to think that getting boiling water thrown at you would be like taking a hot shower, but that could seriously mess someone up for life.

0·2 years agoCome on… It was a pot of boiling hot water. If she did throw it at the cops that could do a lot of damage. I’m not saying it looked like she was going to throw it and I don’t think the shooting was justified, but don’t pretend like the cops would’ve just “gotten wet”. It doesn’t look good when you lie.

3·3 years agoWhat? 😂 This flight wasn’t supposed to go to the moon. It’s a test flight. They’re developing the most powerful rocket to have ever flown and recover every part of it. They’re also using a power cycle for the engine that has never been used before. So no, what SpaceX is doing has never been done before.

3·3 years agoA reused rocket mission from SpaceX is at least an order of magnitude cheaper than any other major launch provider. And to this date SpaceX has flown 216 reused rockets, and at least one of those was used for a manned mission.

5·3 years agoThere’s only 8 (or 9 depending on who you ask) planets in the solar system. So Musk would have 2 fingers to spare. And we haven’t even “landed” on all of them (not sure how you’d land on a gas giant…)

18·3 years agoYou do realize that most of the money NASA has given SpaceX has been in the form of contracts to launch missions for them? I’m pretty sure very minimal tax dollars are going to Starship development right now, especially compared to other launch providers (ULA, Blue Origin, ect.) It’s because of SpaceX that America is able to launch Astronauts to space without using Russia since the Space Shuttle was retired.

8·3 years agoThe fastest turnaround time for a space shuttle was 54 days pre Challenger disaster and 88 days post Challenger disaster. It was very expensive and time consuming to reuse the space shuttle (they basically had to completely disassemble and reassemble the whole thing) which is one of the main reasons it has stopped flying. Falcon 9 on the other hand has a fastest turnaround time of 3 weeks. So not sure where you got your numbers from, but it seems to me that the Falcon 9 is a much better vehicle in terms of reuse.

Personally, I’d say it’s more so the cheating that makes him an asshole rather than how he texts.
