Dude it was hard enough for my wife to get a new ID (not REAL) when we moved from RI to MA.

I do all the bills and handle all the finances. My credit was better (now we are about equal) and so all the utilities and most the credit cards are in my name. Not to mention most of them are paperless.

At the time, I think she was also still on a cell phone plan with her siblings.

So, like, absolutely no official-enough mail coming to our house to her name. And they need 2.

What, exactly, is the purpose of an ID, and why does it need my SSN and two pieces of mail? How does that identify me, as a person, any more than a supporting document like an existing US Passport? If I qualified for a US Passport, why the hell do I need so much more on top of that for just a state issued ID.

The whole thing is a scam to bully minorities and put an additional burden on traveling for low-income families. I wonder how many people are missing flights to some important and unexpected event (i.e. a funeral) because they never fly and never had a reason to get a REAL ID.

For that matter, I’d really like to know what TSA gets out of a REAL ID that they don’t get out of a regular license, for domestic travel? They don’t care about my proof of residence, they only care that the name matches the boarding pass and the face, and isn’t Islamic or otherwise off-white.

I’m skeptical of what your parent is saying…sounds quite like the adenochrome conspiracy theory. But at the same time, it’s quite likely that the POTUS would get on medical trials if something seemed both promising and relatively safe.

With this particular president…I wouldn’t put it past him to obtain some unethical treatment (such as proposed in the adenochrome conspiracy theory, but probably not actually adenochrome).

I’m all for the differently-abled having the same opportunities as everyone else, but this seems like a poor condition for the “leader of the ‘free*’ world” to have, right?

Of course, his supporters thought he was exaggerating or talking hyperbolically. They believed him when he claimed to never know about Project 2025. And maybe he really didn’t, who knows. Its funny, the same people worried about a shadow government, rounding up citizens for FEMA death camps, poisoning our water supply, etc…elected us a guy who did and does all those things. Proudly, even.

Personally I think a political leader, while they should be likeable (I mean, that should be a bare requirement to even get anywhere in politics in the first place), they should also be composed, professional, respectful, and even if they disagree with you, do so receptively and constructively. He is none of these things, and they think that makes him great. Really it just makes him a baffoon and makes the entire country a laughing stock.

To be fair, Asians are both gifted genetically with regards to skin and aging (thicker dermis, more collagen) and Culturally.

Culturally, a lot of Asian groups are serious about skincare, and a lot of Asian cuisine is rich in Vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and low in saturated fat.

This is very unfair with comparison to Americans who bawk at the idea of sunblock and vegetables, and treat saturated fats as a dietary staple.

I had to rent a car from Enterprise during a mild snowstorm.

I picked it up the night before and brought it home (work paid for the rental, I didn’t want to put miles on my car).

They had filled up the wiper fluid with water, so my wipers wouldn’t work. Frozen solid.

Swung by the rental agency on the way to my trip to complain and swap out the car.

Next car was fine for like 30 minutes but then it stopped working again. Frozen solid.

I guess some idiot decided to top up all the cars with water. Which doesn’t work so well in the wintertime.

ETA: for those who don’t know driving in the snow…you often need wiper fluid. Especially when the road has a mist of salty, sandy water on it from melted snow + sand/salt trucks.

I do remember one night I was high as fuck and went to Ruby Tuesdays or TGI Fridays or IDGAF Thursdays or something, and there was this party of four that were just the drunkest, rowdiest, gayest men I think I had ever seen. Like, name a gay stereotype, there were at least 2 of them at the table.

Anyways they had a rant about Michelob Ultras, and it was probably the funniest conversation I ever overheard. I completely forgot about until I looked at the receipt and it jogged my memory. It became a meme among a group of friends I broke ties with like a dozen years ago. Now all I remember is Michelob Ultra and that’s it. Also, I’m high as fuck now. Weird how that works.

Ooh good call on jellyfin I’ll have to keep that in mind. I hadn’t considered that jellyfin would probably want direct access to the igpu for QSV or any other re- encoding. All my nodes are specced the same, hardware wise…I wonder if I’ll be able to just pass down the igpu to the worker-node vms and have that available to all of them. I don’t need their displays, and all my SFFs have onboard serial in case I actually need to see what’s on console.

I’ve got a pile of hardware as well. 3 old sff desktops. A pile of 2.5gbe nics, ram, nvmes, and ssds to put in them. Proxmox iso on a thumb drive with Ventoy. All ready to go.

Gonna run kubernetes atop proxmox, and a bunch of stuff atop that.

Have another tower I set up for storage. I installed all the drives, and proxmox, and OMV…and just left it there.

Now I’m thinking I might put the drives in my tower, with the GPU, and giving it a small VM for OMV and a bigger VM for Moonlight. Then I can just have a nice silent NUC for my desktop. I have several of those ready to go as well.
