To expand on your point about no tinkering required, the overall UI is also geared for a couch experience. So many people want to just plug in an HDMI cable and go, and consoles make that possible. And I get the desire; I have no regrets about going the PC route but I absolutely understand the whole “I don’t want to sit at a desk when I get home from work” argument. And before anyone talks about putting a PC on the TV, yes it’s possible but it’s not optimized for that kind of experience out of the box.
There are so many intricacies to the form, and it’s complicated further by the fact that you need to adjust your motion to fit your own body’s range of mobility. But it’s great and absolutely one of the best hobbies I’ve decided to pick up in the last few years. I tell everyone disc golf is super cheap as long as you don’t like it lol. I’ve gone from three discs in an old backpack to a dedicated bag so full I’ve had to start culling discs I don’t actually intend to use in a round.
Nice. I picked it up last year as a way to get outside, get some exercise and some low-cost entertainment since there are a bunch of courses around where I live and I don’t have to pay every time I want to play. Over that time I’ve gone from awful to mediocre, which I’m pleased with lol. But it gets me moving and away from a screen for a few hours, so I’ll call it a win.

Also, planes. You can get a license to fly them and everything!

He has to placate dear leader so his country can continue receiving arms to defend itself.

Friends and family will either listen to a point before saying they can’t handle it, or some of them I wouldn’t bring these problems to in the first place. When I do talk, I get tired of my response being the thing they focus on instead of the source causing my frustration. I’ve attempted therapy for years with varying success; after some bad experiences I can’t trust therapists anymore. All anyone cares about is if my emotions are impacting them in a negative way, nobody actually gives a shit about how I am doing as long as they aren’t directly inconvenienced.
clearly a bedpan is the logical solution.

You’re missing the point, and I can’t tell if it’s willfull or incidental, but everyone is saying it has become something we only do a few times a year, as opposed to regularly, because of the expense.

I get you’re being over the top to make a point, but it seems a bit ridiculous to compare overpriced popcorn to a first class plane ticket and staying at an expensive hotel. We’re talking about experiences that people used to indulge in on a whim, or which were reasonably affordable for average folks. That is not the case with the examples you provided, and those kind of purchases are large even for some people of means.

You’re not wrong, but you’re also ignoring the fact that the whole point of a movie theater is to have an “experience” and the snacks are part of it. Sure, you don’t have to get it, yes your strategy can be done and will work, and I have a long and storied history of stopping by the candy aisle in the grocery store before noisily making my way to my seat and enjoying my discount goodies. But buying a ticket to a theater is a matter of spectacle and experience, and that exact experience is becoming rapidly unaffordable even when you just buy the tickets alone anymore.

As if the processed food industry doesn’t already lobby Congress spendinf millions annually.

Golf LOVES its rules. Seriously.

FWIW I feel the same way about people putting A1 on their steak.
