(Without knowing what you are looking for exactly) Aren’t there hacks for some of the echos? There used to be for sure, you need an older one though afaik. It not being apple should also make it way cheaper already

Thanks for the feedback! It gives me some of my confidence back to see other people talk about it in a similar way.
But it really is a sad think for biking people, and with the UCI planing an overhaul of their rule set, I only see it getting worse (I only know about road cycling that is). Still have to evaluate for myself where I take it from here, but restoration and keeping old bikes in shape would better fit my principals anyway…
Happy biking!

That might be it, trying on the phone right now. Should have linked it to begin with, sorry
I have a basic dashboard set up in my home assistant that I never check. Don’t even know how it works, I forgot. That’s why I really want to just put my whole setup in code. That’s why nothing is happening, the chore just seems so daunting.
So I listen for complains ringing through the house and react accordingly.

I love how people looking into getting a car will go crazy over range. All the while they have not driven more than 100k in a single day in the last 5 years.

Sounds like a nice problem to have! But yeah, it’s not like building will save you crazy amounts of money. It just striked a nerve for me

Uh nice Will do

Will do in the second part!

Thx mate! Luckily I was mostly done when starting the write up, so I’m in the process of testing the bike right now.
But yeah, the build was… something

I would be so happy to drop youtube, which is one of my last subscriptions. A nice bonus would be to get my “smart” TV off the internet. But I feel like everytime androidTV or whatever comes up, I get confused as to whether there is a decent solution. What hardware do people use? My RaspberryPI 3 does not seem sufficient, even though people seem to say otherwise. Is Kodi still fine? What I need is something that just works, I can’t have my TV going down like all my other funny selfhosted business. The wellbeing of my entire household relies on that.
And then the youtube alternatives: There are so many words floating around and I never know what to do. I do have a server and would be able to get into my network via tailscale, so this would not be an issue. Invidious? That would mean I don’t have to deal with the music either 🤔

The backup server at my parents house really did not want to run. Something kept breaking to the point that no web interface or SSH worked. Now I’m not new to self hosting, so I ran my fair share of HDMI and USB cables across my space to debug something on my server. But at my parents place it’s just that extra bit annoying, since I only bring my laptop. Finding a screen is doable, but the keyboard got me more than once. The only one they have kicking around has a freaking PS/2 cable… not even my salvaged backup hardware is old enough to support that. More than one time I had to wait for friends to get back from work so I could borrow their keyboard just to press ‘any’ key.
I decided to handle the issue by getting an IP KVM, which should help me deal with that, right? Wrong! I installed a new drive and that piece of hardware goes into some secure boot loop or whatever that is too fast for my KVM to turn on…
I only handle “official” stuff with it. So invoices, some personal documents and the likes. PDF and image files, that’s it.
What do you mean by “change”? Never noticed anything.
I still go through the effort of naming my files properly before uploading. So I could just take all the files and still kind of work with them (outside of paperless). But even that is overkill I guess…
After setting up paperless and Immich I struggled with this as well. I had a structure before an was very attached to it. But both, like mentioned below, will organize files in their own way. There are ways to keep things like you had them, export them, whatever. But I deemed it to be not worth the effort.
It took me some time, but I just accepted whatever these do. In particular since I really like those two services mentioned. Data is accessed through them, and that’s it for now. I backup everything through proxmox mechanisms, which is way more convenient then messing with the data in any way.
Should I want to migrate, I can always cobble together a migration script that pulls my data in ways I like.
Does it follow the same rules as with Gaming PCs? So +15% print speed?
Infrastructure as code. My lab has been working stable for a while now, so it’s time to mess things up again. I want everything in code. The POC with the ansible proxmox collection is already working, but it will surely take some time. In particular since I want to implement some improvements like VLANs, proper user management and such
Proxmox, mostly LXCs
Phomemo M421, like I said I’m not keeping it so no deep insights on it, but: It is a newish model (I think) that also does shipping labels. My idea was to at least have that option. Runs on battery, which I like. The connectivity was super easy and quick - browser (desktop PC) and iPhone went super smooth. The app is decent, some features will cost (require an account?) you, but you can make most basic stuff without. The open source browser option I linked does not support this particular printer, but it allows custom setup of printers and I was able to get it (kind of) working.
So no hate against the company, if you need a printer it felt ok - I would propably get one of the smaller M models though (if you don’t need shipping labels).
I know that feeling. Broke something in my reverse proxy and setting it back up again was painful. I know that certain things had needed special treatment, but how/what/where? Lost 🥲 Going to migrate to infrastructure as code for my documentation now

Oh that helps plenty! I think everything and more was answered :) Thanks for taking your time!
Oh what did I miss there?
