    I didn’t realize covering your mouth when yawning was a norm in general, like I don’t cover it at all.

    Note: it’s not like I yawn directly at people or in peoples faces or anything, I just don’t cover my mouth.

      Yeah I just kind of look away and only cover if I see someone “caught” me. But also, in public, it’s a good test to see if people are staring at you if you openly yawn and other people go around yawning too. Stop looking at me if you didn’t wanna yawn.

      People do it out of respect for others since yawning is contagious. We tend to hide our mouths so that others don’t yawn.

        I do it because you look really stupid when you yawn, walking around mouth all wide. The hand hides all that.

      I was not taught to cover my mouth but I married a mouth coverer. Am a convert now. But I don’t think I cover when I’m alone.
