With two vaccines available, this killer disease could now be eliminated — but will the world pull together to make it happen?
In 1921 the first vaccine for tuberculosis came out. In 2021 1.6 million people died from tuberculosis.
The medicine existing is great, but something tells me the people who need won’t be getting it.
It’s my understanding that the TB vaccine is not all that effective. You’ll also test positive with TB skin tests for the rest of your life.
Edit: did some looking and it’s pretty effective in babies just not in adults.
Less effective is still better than no effect from being unvaccinated.
why cant the WHO (or UN) fund it?
Do you think the WHO and the UN have a side hustle? Where does their money come from? WHO has an etsy shop selling soy candles?
I thought they’d have plenty of money from all the albums and tours.
soy candles are so last century. the newest hotness in candle tech is beeswax-coconut wax candles (emits negative ions that pair with positive ions & clean the air of dust/etc).
