I think DSi’s are the ONE device that is immune to any kind of degradation over time. Those things are fucking immortal
any other device, for sure. Especially iPod nanos, they were packaged so tightly that if it gets essentially any swelling the battery actually pushes the screen up against the glass
I went to go find an image to attach and this thumbnail of a YouTube video is so funny if you don’t know the context behind it
I have no idea where my old game devices would be in my childhood home, but I’ll remind my ma to be careful if she comes across them since she refuses to throw any of my old stuff away (I’m out of state now).
Casual reminder to check your old rechargeable devices to make sure they don’t have a spicy pillow growing

My DS lite still turns on as if it’s 2010. I’ve had my fair share of spicy pillows in old phones, powerbanks, etc. but the DS appears immune.
I don’t know how but my gameboy micro still turns on.
I think it might just be powered by a fucking nuclear reactor.
My Gameboy Color still works.
So does my DMG, but those don’t have decades old lithium cells in em.

My parents threw away my C128 (the “next gen” C64) and the 300 floppies with games (some made by me). You’re lucky.
Evil shit.
🩷 Don’t sweat, it was a long time ago but thanks nonetheless!
It’s generally pretty obvious - the frame or screen will probably be bowing out, like it’s about to explode.
… mostly because it’s about to explode.
