I’m surprised they never encountered a race that had legs that bent the other way and just have an awkward moment where the human crew can’t figure out how to sit in the chairs of the alien conference room.
Meanwhile Riker would just waltz in and sit like a god king, ready to discuss them joining the federation.
Out-of-universe, it probably wouldn’t work well for center of mass with respect to the direction of vision.

Cool chairs are much more interesting than UAPs. I can sit in a chair and be comfortable reading about them, but can I sit on a UAP and study them? I say nay, nay!

What about the joystick, I mean manual steering column. Pretty sure the one on the Enterprise-E was some dressed up off the shelf model. It looks a bit like something between a logitech wingman extreme and quickshot.
