Hamas needs to trigger Israel into being brutal so that they can keep their power and reject a two state solution.

    While technically true, the recent, post-Oct 7 ceasefire attempts have failed because of Israeli intransigence more than anything. Hamas wants to resume the war (or at least the chestbeating bottle-rocket barrages) at a later date - Israel wants to finish the genocide now.
