I was in a waiting room at a hospital recently, and there was a homeless person trying to get out of the heat there as well. He was talking about how he hasnt eaten in days and he doesnt know what hes going to do. Not five feet from him is multiple vending machines filled with food and drinks, just a thin piece of glass barricading them in.
Seeing both of those things next to each other at the same time made me so angry. I dont really know what I’m angry at or who needs to fix it, but I know there’s a problem there that should be fixed.
As a psych nurse I hate food and housing instability and the death of thirdspaces. Oh and also the prison industrial complex.
