Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has a history of harsh anti-gay language from his time as an attorney for a socially conservative legal group in the mid-2000s.

This is honestly all you need to know. People can pick and choose their sexual preferences, but they’re inherently born with belief in a millennia-old fantasy book.
Obviously, your religion can be changed. I have no interest in changing mine, but I could if I so desired. However, having been born as a Jewish person, there are many on the right who view me as somehow fundamentally flawed. Even if I converted to Christianity (not happening), they’d still see me as a Jew.
I think that’s semantics. I don’t think you were born with the sacred texts in your mind, you were just raised in a Jewish family, learned Jewish values and grew up to be one. That’s what I mean when I say you’re not “born” with your religion (not that there’s any issue with that, the issue is in Johnson’s statement).
People on the right see Jewish people as some sort of hidden cabal so obviously if you say you converted yourself they wouldn’t believe you. It’s unfortunate but you just have to deal with the fact those people can’t be reasoned with and ignore their opinions.
I wish I could just ignore them. Sadly, too many of the “Jews are evil” folks are getting into positions of power and too many other people in positions of power are willing to look the other way for these people. So I need to take them and their threats seriously.

I get it, probably not as much as you do but I get it. We just have to vote against them and hope for the best.
