The accusation to the Portuguese president was made by André Ventura on social media on Wednesday after his far-right party, Chega, voted in the parliament against Marcelo’s trip to Germany for an official visit between this Thursday and Saturday, after an invitation by his German counterpart.
In a video posted on Instagram, in which he appears with a document in hand, André Ventura makes the accusation, referring to the Bürgerfest meeting as “a hamburger festival”, when it is in fact a “Citizen’s Festival” (the German word ‘bürger’ means ‘citizen’), held at the presidential palace gardens in Berlin.
