    Just a slight correction, it’s “thirty ought six” or “30-06” where thirty is the caliber(diameter of projectile) and ought six is the year the military adopted it. Not that that makes much difference, I’m just a nerd.

      I appreciate the correction I always heard odd not ought but probably cause I heard it much, much younger heh. Grew up in a small town in Canada so was just thinking how I heard it (seriously all these years heard 30 odd 6 in my memory), maybe our accent too. Have a good one, appreciate the knowledge! Always a good day when you learn something new, doesn’t happen as often these days.
