Read “Caste: the origin of our discontents” and you’ll see that income stratification has always been about class, race, sex, and other arbitrary traits. There are “pink collar jobs” assigned only to women. I’ve witnessed anti-male discrimination in Direct Support & Nursing jobs for example and this is because that is not their “place” in the caste system.
