“These earthquakes are a warning sign, a part of a longer-term story that we know we’re entering a build-up phase to the next (volcanic) eruption,” IMO Service and Research division head Matthew Roberts says, adding that from my perspective as a scientist and someone who’s been following this activity very closely, “I would say that an eruption within the next 12 months is likely.”

    YOU LIVE ON A VOLCANO!

We have volcanos in the rest of the world.

    WE DON’T LIVE ON THEM!

        Hawaii is basically volcano plops.

Which does nothing to detract from its stunning natural beauty.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano_House

Volcano House is the name of a series of historic hotels built at the edge of Kīlauea, within the grounds of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park on the Island of Hawai’i. The original 1877 building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now houses the Volcano Art Center. The hotel in use today was built in 1941 and expanded in 1961.

Only a few rare eruptions such as the one in 1790 are explosive, and the northeast rim provides a relatively safe vantage point. The prevailing northeast trade winds and higher elevation cause poisonous gasses and lava to flow in the other direction.
