In the poll from The Washington Post, 47 percent of respondents said “Trump and Republicans in Congress” are “mainly responsible for the federal government partially shutting down,” while 30 percent pinned the blame on “Democrats in Congress” for the shutdown.

In the survey, 66 percent of respondents said they are either “very” or “somewhat” concerned over the shutdown, while 34 percent said they are “not too” or “not at all” concerned.

The Post poll took place Wednesday, featuring 1,010 people and a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

    Nobody wants the government shut down

    I mean, I personally am in favor of keeping the government shutdown until every ICE agent who’s missing paychecks because of it has to quit and finds a different job, but admittedly opinion polls say that’s probably still an outlier opinion at this point

      Yeah, but that’s different than saying you want the government shut down as a blanket statement. You want the government open so long as it’s not enabling an authoritarian regime. But so long is that’s not possible, shut it down.

      It’s probably easier to ask “who do you blame for the shutdown” and assume it’s the same people.
