The Metro trilogy (so far) was on a sale a couple weeks ago. Beat 2033 Redux and am on Last Light Redux now. Good stuff!

Most people probably know about it, but for those that don’t, it’s a story driven FPS with a mix of chaotic combat and stealth sections. The story is decent, and the gameplay is satisfying. I played the first one with a QOL modpack and the second unmodded.

Redux versions I believe have upgraded graphics, gameplay tweaks to make the game more approachable, and integrates content from expansions into the story. Don’t quote me on that though.

    Recommended.

I still have to get to Exodus. I played and loved 2033, played and has very mixed feelings about Last Light. But now with a fourth title on the way I should really get to Exodus, it’s supposed to be the best one.

How are you finding Last Light so far compared to 2033?

Just finished Last Light. The action sections were worse, and the stealth sections were better. The story was a better story, but told in a sometimes tedious way. I liked that there were strong characters and higher stakes, but something about the atmosphere wasnt as compelling. And the final one or two hours or so kind of dragged.

I also have mixed feelings, but I would still recommend. Good overall with occasional very good parts. I mostly wish that the final act was more fun.

I probably have similar sentiments. I hated the boss fights, I disliked the overly supernatural parts, I hated the shoehorned “love story” and I hated the ending and the general vibe of Artyom being russian Rambo.

I loved the start travelling with Pavel, reminded me of travelling with Bourbon and I loved the settlements. Venice and Theater are some of the best Metro bits I’ve seen between the first two games.

Overall it didn’t hit the same for me, it felt like it leaned away from the grounded bits I loved in 2033 and leaned more into set pieces and action movie spectacle.
