In the current situation the least you’d expect of the American president is to leave Israel to fend for itself, not send them aircraft carriers and military aid. For comparison in the 1980s Reagan (yes, Reagan) called the Israeli PM and basically ordered him to stop the bombing of West Beirut immediately. The bombing stopped in 20 minutes.
