The yellow and white clover, along with the odd wild daisy, are blooming in my yard! So no mowing for another week or two.
I can sit in Grandma’s Hootch and drink tea while looking at pretty flowers and the lake. It reminds me of a little mountain valley.
All the while knowing that in 10 or twelve weeks it will all be covered in snow again.
Depending on the year, once a week over June, then once a week and a half or so in July, and then every couple of weeks in August and By September mowing is done. I don’t water or fertilize. A mix clover, alfalfa, and grasses is a tough yard cover and requires little care.
You say requires little care and you’re mowing it twice as often.
I just mow every 2 weeks from middle of May to Sept. and that’s only because the city would complain that it’s too long.
I have June grass seeded into the mix. During the month of June it grows fast. And since I live on a hillside, June is often the wettest month and I need that fast growth to hold the soil and prevent heavy washing. As June passes I need to mow less and less. This year I have only needed to mow twice so far, and I will need to mow less and less as summer moves into the dry part of the year and the grasses will go dormant.
