Does this mean there’s less food waste, people growing more of their own food, people getting food from somewhere other than grocers, or just less overall food consumption?
Declining sales would probably lead to more waste, as unsold perishable food is thrown away.
I would suspect declining food consumption and rising demand at food banks.
