I researched shelf life of the plastic used and I already know the rate which my eye glasses break. So I will be rocking these for the next decade or more.

Yep. There are a lot of procedures in place to make sure that doesn’t happen though. Age, thickness of the cornea, naturally dry eyes, etc. There’s a whole suite of machines and scopes they poke and prod you with before you’re even allowed to pay them $5000 to cut open your eyeballs.
I still regret not waiting a bit longer though. There’s a newer version (a new machine really) that uses picosecond wavelength lasers to reshape the cornea without cutting creating a flap at all, so the surgeon only has to make a small slit to pull out the excess from with a special pair of tweezers.
