That’s an alien that uses water to make crop circles.
One of the most ineffecent ways to water crops. It’s all or nothing.
Modular systems are not only more efficient, they’re also more failsafe. If on e part fail, it’s an easy fix and you can still water most of your field.

if you spray it around like that, i reckon the wind will carry away a large part of that before it touches the ground. in dry air, water evaporates really fast if you spray it. meanwhile if you drip it, much less evaporation before it reaches the ground -> much more efficient.
Center Pivot systems also spray and do not drip. Yes dripping is most efficient but highly involved and expensive. You need to place drippers at every plant
