    It puts the GOP squarely in the position of not supporting the military rather than just one radical holdout.

      Yeah but how many votes would that charge? Republican voters will excuse anything their politicians do. They only care about identity, not policy.

        It’s less about changing votes and more about exposing them for what they are and forcing some measure of intellectual honesty. It’s not something that fixes anything near term but sets up how the party is perceived in the future. The more they are exposed for not standing for what they claim to stand for, the better.
