    Nah, I imagine they probably have ironclad non competes, so they will need to take it easy on a beach somewhere or venture into another business untill the non compete runs out.

        Yea, I think if they were offered severance as part of dismissal/layoff and it had a non compete they could lose that. Beyond that, it doesn’t hold much water in CA for the employees.

        Even if they weren’t based in California any employee living and working from California would largely be protected

        I don’t know if this applies here. He is not a normal employee. I could imagine there are several forms of non compete possible that would easily be enforceable. Aka… your stock options dissapear if you compete.
