The “non-fake” meat is extremely wasteful. Lab-grown meat still has many problems, but at least 99% of the calories are not spent on keeping a cow alive in cruel conditions.

A realistic one to apply to our societies?

Realistically, all the money spent on fake meat research could be spent on providing food for those who are starving.

These people don’t get to choose between fake meat or real meat. It’s either starve and die or starve and die.

Fake meat is just for the incredibly small pool of affluent individuals who think consuming animals is wrong but maximizing profit is not. Where do they get the money for this anyways in a world where children go without food, water, shelter, electricity, and education? I guess these affluent individuals should have more before those kids.

That’s idealistic, unless you really think you can convince most people to stop eating meat. I hope someday, but I don’t think I’ll live to see it.

Sure it’s expensive, but that’s typical for new tech. It’s not unreasonable to expect that it will end up being accessible to most of the population.

It’s just, if we have the option now to feed these people yet we don’t take it, what makes you think having fake meat will change anything? To me, it will just be another thing that’s too expensive for them to benefit from because the people providing it are always maximizing profit.
