Sean Hannity was trying to throw Donald Trump a life vest, and Trump was waving it off.
At a town hall in Davenport, Iowa, on the eve of what may be the final Republican primary debate of the campaign, the Fox News host asked the likely GOP nominee whether he had “any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power? To break the law? To use the government to go after people?”
Trump parried. Hannity probed. He again asked Trump whether he was indeed “promising America tonight you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?”
“Except for Day One,” Trump said.
Were Trump’s initial remarks a Trumpian jest? A threat? A promise?
Back in Davenport, as Hannity wrapped the town hall, the crowd’s reaction left no confusion over how Trump’s town hall and his remarks landed.
They gave him a standing ovation.
I need an adult.
Adult here… the word you’re looking for is alcohol.
Alcohol here. The word you’re looking for is “heroin”
Heroin here, I will solve all your problems and in exchange give you one new problem.
1 problem > lots of other problems. I’m in.
Your one and only problem now is a crippling heroin addiction.
Pills here, i brought some alcohol
Alcohol here, the word you’re looking for is Armalite.
Adult here: get the people you know to vote, and vote as well
Those you know who aren’t that motivated, motivate them
Elections are very important
Vote in every election you can and participate in the primaries leading up to them
We can only defeat this scourge by working together
The majority of people I know would vote for Trump. There’s no chance of me flipping that. Should I really encourage them?
No. Flip the script and discourage them.
“You guys have got this in the bag, you don’t need to vote in this one. Have you seen Biden’s approval rating, woof.”
That should work at least a little bit in discouraging the trumpets you know
we’re sooo fucking doomed
Trump isn’t hiding what he plans to do. He has been open and honest that he will be a dictator and tyrant.
That’s what “they” want. This isn’t going to be a negative to hardcore trump loyalists.
Possibly the only time in his life he’s been honest
It’s almost like he could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn’t lose voters
He clarified that he will build the wall and drill, drill, drill. He also said that Hannity was asking if he would be dictator and he said no, except for day one. Watch the video, that dude is going to be a full on dictator.
The audience was okay with a dictator for one day, what’s a few more years. Call me crazy, but you can do a lot of damage being a dictator for one day. Trump is of course, lying. He plans on taking over everything and not make the same mistakes he made trying to go full coup and fascist. His intensity about being a dictator was not good.
I thought he was asked if he was going to become a dictator. Only on day one means he’ll be one from the start right? Anyway I suspect that’s what he meant.
But Biden’s handling of the Middle East /s
Muh conscience /s
No it doesn’t. He’s going full steam ahead, and a lot of the country supports him. I can feel the background noise of insanity permeate my city.
“Whaaat? Ohhh nooouuu” /s
You lot are terrified of your own shadow.
Pretty funny considering the same crowd was crying when Obama wore a brown suit.
DAE remember when Obama disrespected the Queen by giving her an iPod?
Think Trump has a plan to get Mexico to pay for the Wall? He’s had a while to come up with some great ideas
He’ll come up with that plan right after Infrastructure Week.
My first read I thought you said “Insurrection Week”.
Which would coincide with Inauguration Week.
Is that before or after infrastructure week?
At least he didn’t do the whole “Well, I’m not a Trump fan, but Joe Biden is such a terrible President and why aren’t we talking about that?”
