Not a single smartphone in sight.
Just a plane living in the moment.

Good take.
Don’t hate the tools, hate what capitalism turns them into and uses them for.
Reminds me of the old panic that photography would be the death of painters. It was shortly followed by an all time boom in art and creativity as painters tried new things and moved on from photorealism.
There’s still so much room left for human art and artists even in a post-AI world, as long as we keep rejecting the slop and supporting actual artists. Then maybe new art forms will emerge. Who knows!
Just a quickie to mention I’ve opened two new communities :

Glad to know you like them!

Congrats to your buddy though. But the issue is systemic.
This is only true if you are willing to ignore/overlook the constant scandals regarding luxury brands and work conditions.
I like having the right to exist within society 🥺
Although to be fair, I do miss the Usenet & IRC days. It felt so easy to connect with people on a personal level back when the Internet was less crowded. Much less arguing, and much more being excited to be there.
