I believe the OLED was actually going to be the Switch 2 (or Pro), but the pandemic made them change plans.
The chip market went bananas, and it was impossible to produce some chips at volume and at competitive prices.
They probably decided to wait a bit, and evaluate alternatives and probably dedicate more time to R&D.
Whatever they do, as long as it is compatible with the Switch, I’ll be happy. It’s one of the best game libraries they’ve had in a long time.
I’m pretty sure different countries or regions may have different mechanisms. I’m still amazed at the ability yo move large amounts inside the US, as you have states that almost qualify as tax havens. Guess the US government is not concerned. I still find it interesting.

Edit: Btw, this reminds me of a guy that was doing crypto transactions from unknown origin (and not huge quantities, in the thousands) and had his accounts frozen by the bank because authorities wanted to investigate where the money was coming from. But I think he was in the UK. I’m amazed that you can move money that easily in the US…

And probably, more than one. When you start moving large amounts of money, a lot of people start paying attention: banks want to know why you’re taking that money away from their institution, tax agencies want to know if you’re paying the taxes you’re supposed to, and security agencies want to know if everything is legal and you’re not involved in something fishy.
So, if you actually have the money and the transaction is not immediately rejected as an error, you are probably going to be asked a few questions. Unless you’re someone who regularly deals in such things. Bank have ways to detect unusual types of transactions from an account.
If you don’t have the money, it’ll probably just be classified as an error.

I was probably not clear with what I was thinking. I remember watching a video of the main hall of the European Parliament, filled to the brim with corporations stands with lobbyists trying to push their corporate agenda to passing parliamentarians.
I was not talking about MEPs receiving this or that organization or corporation in their offices. Frankly, it looked like a freaking market. That is what I want to see banned. Not MEPs talking to people in their offices.
The thing is, some people and corporations have so much money that they can do both. Why not? Just use your media corporations to convince people that the law you convinced the politicians to pass is good, and things will go smoothly for you.
I’ve no idea. But in practice, corporations with big pockets have more possibilities to influence than regular people, or even NGOs. But lobbying is a part of politics that, in my opinion, is truly detrimental. If politicians want to be in contact with their base, they should reach for local associations (and be more proactive in being in contact with their constituents). By design the EU Parliament isolates representatives from their voters. It’s in this microcosm that lobbyists flourish.
Anything on banning lobbyists from the EU Parliament? Because that’s urgently needed…

No, you’re confusing MacOS with iOS. Mac allows whatever you want. Each browser has its own rendering engine. iOS is the one that only allows (for the moment) Webkit. But that’s going to change (at least in Europe). Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_browser_engines#Support

App association is done at the OS level, and the apps are normally responsible for that. So it could be either the OS not registering the selected browser properly or the other browser not registering itself correctly as the default browser.
They need to basically register themselves as responsible for html files and a bunch of protocols (http, https, etc). I’ve never had a problem like that, and I’ve been using macs for almost 30 years (I’ve used many different browsers as default in the past).
But browsers are pretty complicated beasts, so I believe you. There are a lot of things that can go wrong and your choice may not end up being respected.
While you can’t uninstall Safari, it doesn’t constantly discourage you to use other browsers like Edge does. Nor does Mac OS prevents you from installing competing apps.
The bigger problem is iOS, but the EU already took care of that and we’ll be able to sideload apps on iOS pretty soon.

Also, one of the most stubborn animals in the animal kingdom. If they want something, they’ll do it, again and again, no matter what you tell them or do to them.
If they want a specific door or window to be left open, they’ll sit there until you open it. Then they’ll stay there to make sure it stays open. If you close it, they’ll complain.
They want to get on top of something? They’ll climb on it. No matter if you shoo them away, yell to scare them away, or get them off. They’ll do their best effort to get on top of that place.
The only thing that can move them from those fixations is by awakening their hunting instinct. Get the laser pointer, and they’ll forget (at least for a while).
But we love them to death. How couldn’t we?
If it’s just text (paperback novels), digital. If it has some illustrations, or is a comic or an art book, physical. Same for technical books with diagrams: physical. I don’t have an iPad or a large ebook to appreciate graphic content in the same way as in a physical book. I have no problems reading novels off my phone, on the other hand.
Yes, I know there’s always been some sort of targeting in ads, but in the past it was mostly generic targeting, and you were targeted as part of a group, not individually. The thing is: I guess people would be ok if some generic data is collected (like general interests -as long as you can manage it-, and in the case of personal information, your birth year, at most). But I personally am not ok with them reading everything I write (including private conversations), check every interaction, even analyzing pictures content with AI, or buying information from other sources and cross-checking it, for example. It’s extremely invasive. They’ve been too greedy with acquiring information, and some people are reacting negatively to it.
I also completely dislike algorithmic content. I don’t need the platform guessing what I like to try to keep me in there by offering me content I didn’t ask for. I’m absolutely ok with a timeline, and just looking at the content from people I follow (I even don’t like re-posted content, but I think I’m in the minority there). I don’t need Social Media to “entertain me” in any capacity. So, that’s another factor to leave these sites. They’re constantly trying to hook you, lure you into spending time on their sites. No, thank you, but no.
My FB account was also closed a long time ago. They had too much information about me, and clearly showed they couldn’t be trusted. Instagram, in my case, was less personal, but still, AI has advanced a lot, and they can now probably understand what’s in the pictures people upload. So, it’s time to leave that too. I also closed my Reddit account. And My Twitter account is just a placeholder without info. Right now, I’m just using Mastodon, Lemmy and Pixelfed. I won’t go back to corporate social media.
Absolutely. I’ll go the same route. I’ll put a message informing of my departure for my contacts for a while, and urging people to switch to Mastodon, and then close my personal account on Instagram (I closed my Facebook account a long time ago). I encouraged my son to download Mastodon too, and tell his friends to do the same. I hope they end up switching with time.
I have an account for some projects (business account) that I don’t care if it’s being tracked, as I put no personal information there. I’ll keep that as long as it’s useful. But I hope I can close it eventually, if people switch to Mastodon. We’ll see.
