I swear, voice to text was better on Android 12 than after it got the big upgrade on Android 13 (if I’m recalling the versions correctly). Though it was still an issue then.

I’ve had three Google Pixels now and they’ve all developed problems with just freezing up or shutting down randomly. Won’t be getting one again. Also, the smaller versions keep getting bigger with every iteration. What’s the point? I want a small phone.

I wouldn’t call it “basic” information. The process of getting a clearance is a real pain in the ass.

I needed a public trust clearance once (the lowest level of clearance) and even that required 10 years history of addresses, employment, multiple references, a voice stress analysis, a psychological exam, a list of any foreign nationals I was friends with, financial documents, proof of education, travel history, etc. They call your references and ask for more references, then they call them and ask for more. They do as much digging as they possibly can to try to find anything wrong with you. My husband needed a TS/SCI and that was, of course, even worse.

They should have to go through all of that and it shouldn’t be allowed to be bypassed, but it’s not basic.

The prerequisites for becoming a cop in the US are almost non-existent. You mostly just need to have a high school degree or GED and to pass a drug test. Then there’s something like three months of training, variable by jurisdiction.

At the same time, it’s seen as respectable, has good pay and a great pension. Plus the benefit of being seen as an authority figure, which appeals greatly to many of the undereducated.

Like the military, it attracts the lowest common denominator.

It’s sickening how so many people are willing to just sacrifice Ukraine to appease Russia. When they say “escalate”, what they really mean is “make us feel some of the hurt that Russia is sending Ukraine’s way”.

I’m well aware. I considered excluding southern California because I’m no fan, but they’re not all bad. We can always expel them later if we need to.
