My lukewarm take is that all this hate on AI is really just hating on big companies trying to squeeze money out of some new development. AI (or rather LLMs) are not the problem.

All music is derivative. And if you think the best vocalists or musicians should be the most popular I may have some shocking news for you. The idea that American pop stars are authentic is pretty funny.

Yeah Korean pop idol culture has some extremely toxic elements to it, but so does American celebrity culture. I don’t get the feeling that’s what’s bothering you though.

Just my 2 cents: I dual boot Windows and Linux. I only start up Windows when I want to play a game, use Linux Mint for everything else. Some games run perfectly fine under Linux (I play a lot of Factorio for example. No Mans Sky I’ve had no issues etc.) but some are just a pain. For those I switch to Windows and then immediately switch back when I’m done playing.

It’s not ideal but this way Windows has next to no information about me at least. And as times goes on I’m seeing more and more games running just fine under Linux. Maybe one day I’ll be able to drop Windows completely.

Obviously Israel can’t just exterminate the whole population. The world wouldn’t accept that. But making the region unliveable is a different story. They’ve been working on that for decades and this is the culmination of that plan.

If they were just hunting for"terrorists" they wouldn’t have to level entire blocks. Drive entire cities out of their homes.

I realize none of this will connect because Israel’s defenders will argue that for it’s security there’s no line it can’t cross. But for those of us on the sidelines the goal us pretty damn obvious. From “voluntary migration” to there’s “no such thing as a Palestinian people” (quotes from serving ministers) it’s pretty damning stuff.

That’s part of it but I think there’s a bit more than that.

Getting older I see a clear development among my acquaintances and friends. The ones I would call “real” adults, they dedicate their lives to something that gives it meaning. Some set big goals and got involved in government, some regularly volunteer, some dedicate their lives to ‘simply’ providing as best they can for their kids and family.

For me that is the mark of an adult. Not your competence or your intelligence but what drives you outside just your own desires.

I mean 9-11 didn’t make people anti-American. But the crazy invasion of Iraq did. And yes of course there were those that hated America before any of that happened as well.
