  • Yes, I think proper sentencing / punishment should be contextual.

If you’re battling a disease that affects your behavior, you should be given leniency if you can prove that you have a care plan in place. Lots of places do this. Some formally, some informally.

Hunter would’ve likely been treated with more leniency if he wasn’t the presidents’ son. I see LOTS of poor and middle class people, on a weekly basis, that have gotten in trouble for similar stuff, and they’ve been able to get right with the court / prosecutor and move on quickly.

  • As any musician will tell you, you don’t really need sight to play. Learning to play without looking at the instrument is pretty important.

The biggest challenges are with how to learn / write new pieces since you can’t look at written notation. Stevie Wonder “wrote” by recording and playing back tracks. A surprising amount of sighted musicians do the same if they never learned how to read or write notation, or if they just hate doing that.

  • “I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July, because I had an infection in the south of France, and it’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see,” he said at the time, adding that “my left eye is not the greatest.”

John added that there was reason to be optimistic about his eyesight.

“There’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment,” he said. “I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know.”

  • Harris was in Hawaii 2 weeks after losing the election. She was gone for less than a week. Why is it bad to want to decompress for half a heartbeat after a crazy campaign?

And as for Hunter. Trump has packed the federal law enforcement agencies with corrupt MAGA nuts who want political retribution. Hunter will not be treated fairly.

Moreover, pardoning him highlights the conflict of interest that the GOP gladly ignored with Trump’s first term. If the GOP wants to prevent presidents from pardoning people they’re personally associated with, the Dems will happily join that vote.
