This technically breaks Rule 3, since it doesn’t cover a self-hosted service or application. However, “local over cloud” is always welcome here. So, leaving this post up, but locking to encourage discussion in the proper communities.

I think it’s important to recognize what Plex is saying with this announcement: their current business model isn’t sustainable. That means those who already have lifetime passes are vulnerable to Plex going away. If/when that happens, what will those users do then? That’s the conversation worth having now.
I’m curious why Plex wins. In my experience, Plex offers no customization and very few options for changing the UI. My impression is it’s very hard to use if your media includes more than movies or TV.
Interesting. I’ve had nothing but positive interactions, but I visit them on Discord.

Use a Joplin client ?
I’m not going to remove this post because the article does boast the virtues of self-hosted FOSS. Still, the article isn’t much more than an overview and does very little to educate or instruct. This is relatively low-effort and I hope the votes reflect that.
Apples and oranges.
Package managers only install a package with defaults. These helper scripts are designed to take the user through a final config that isn’t provided by the package defaults.
No need to be elitist about such things.
EDIT: this particular repo is highly regarded in the community. It is very akin to the AUR. It’s not some haphazard collection of scripts.
This is better-suited for a privacy- or fediverse-oriented community. I applaud the content, but it doesn’t really speak to self-hosting in any meaningful way.
6·9 months agoI had a similar change of perspective when I became a parent. We do our best to raise our kids to be the best people they can be. But, if we want to do normal people things and that requires some screen time, so be it. I know what’s going on with my kids and idgaf what others think.

1·9 months agoYou mean the season with no cohesive arc and relies on recycling plots from other shows (mirror universe, aliens taking over bodies to observe reaction to disease, men falling for Orion woman, “Section 31”, etc, etc). This season was so desperate to show “we do that too” it was embarrassing. Even the way they ended the show was worse than just killing it.
Using an LLM doesn’t break the rules. This post’s fate will be determined by your votes.
Surely this is better-suited for the Immich GitHub Discussions page, no?
