I looked into learning Mandarin - because it is a good financial decision. I started to learn some of the basic Japanese fonts because it seemed doable and fun.

I could get around with a single alphabet vs 2500 signs.
And don’t even start me on the tonal part. I’m considering if I really want to learn Chinese I actually have to think about it as singing and not as a language.

Lastly: I waste my life reading online magas - the Japanese and Korean ones are just higher quality, and I found less than a dozen readable Chinese ones.
Their storyboard is just that foreign - spending panels on things that doesn’t make sense translated to English, then skipping important details and just leave me hanging with the story.
And they just span like 400 episodes for no good reason.

But if you have a great adventure /romance / fantasy recommendation that has a good female lead with male characters actually having a personality I am all up for it! Ohh and the story also not just the Palace and harem and eperor bs…

My family uses it for communication. In the past I managed to get them use the at the time trending tech message apps - skype, viber - there was couple more. But they never checked those.

So if I have to msg them on FB to check their msg somewhere else - that’s kinda defeats the reason.

Every spring they have everything you need to start: pots, crappy soil, seeds and watering can.

I like bow everything is the AIs fault. The loss of hobs: AI. The too expensive tokens: Ai. AI hacking systems, AI causing people to go vrazy. The datacenters, ram, gpu everything is blamed on AI.
And not the real culprit: Human greed. Nothing what’s going on is the AI’s fault. It is a box that does nothing without a human.

Just wanted to say: try not to blame AI for the upcoming crash.
They manipulated the market using marketing for AI, selling empty promises: it is not the aimless random output machine’s fault.
It is just a tool being used as a smoke screen so no one will blame big money for what they intentionally caused to happen.

The prompt machines are without agency - it isn’t responsible for the human greed that builds these data centers. It isn’t responsible for the water they use to keep it going - that’s again human intention and greed - AI doesn’t deserve being the villain because it is just zeros and ones and not a person.

It’s not like people actually cared about the victims of previous disasters. Covid, ebola and all the other things (wars also).

In my mind I always see a post about Warhammer40k where they said the emperor kills 1000 people a day just to stay alive - and how thankful we would be if only 1000 people would be killed for the rich and not more.

I haven’t seen Cooking, Baking and even Gardening on the list.
These are hobbies that saved you serious amount of $$.
Making food from scratch is always cheaper and healthier.
If you don’t have much space you can have a tiny vertical garden (pallet) or just a few spiceso n your counter.
And technically growing weed to smoke is gardening and also saves money (tho I don’t know first hand, I don’t partake).

Edit: forgot about: hand sewing and hand embroidery, crochet and knitting. You can fix up clothes so they last longer - and you can spruce up existing clothes also.

I think it is how our brains were trained.
These sites - do not help with older content. This is a perfect example to an other post about how Internet used to have spaces.
Lemmy isn’t designed for long term - “let’s go back” content. Not even WordPress is.
Tho over there you can have tags and groups for articles so you can read it more easily.
At this point probably a wikia-type site would work better for readingbolder posts, but obviously not good for engagement and convos.

Every little mmo guild had their own community forums.
Now everything is freaking discord… I like discord to a point.
For guild stuff I would still prefer forums the good old phpBB - I made so many different skins for it, then the e107 sites…

It depends how desperate you are. And how much attention you need.

We are all different, she might be an attention hog I don’t know anything about her, or maybe she really tries to get enough money for her children’s education I’m aware how naive this sounds.
