  • Oh my God.

I’ve dug into these threads so sooooo many times over the years and I always have to look at suggestion after suggestion after suggestion, hundreds of excellent television shows. Then I reach the end. No one has mentioned Terriers. It is my time to comment.

But here! Today! Terriers is alive. I’m confident I’ve over hyped it by now but… TERRIERS! A silly name for a television show, but a wonderful story.

And for those wondering, it’s just one season and whole the whole the ending isn’t what you want, it is one you can accept. Did Terriers deserve a second season? Yes. But did the story come to a point where I can dream of a future? Also yes.

  • It took Silksong coming out for me to identify why I wasn’t a fan of Hollow Knight, and it’s touched on in this video.

    It’s the runback.

The Dark Souls series of games have the same “problem”, and it’s why I don’t enjoy them either.

I’m a huge fan of Celeste, Super Meat Boy, the Ori series. When I fail at these games, I’m right back in the action.

I’m not against having to learn boss patterns, I really enjoyed Cuphead because after I’ve failed I’m right back in the action.

And while it’s an easier game by comparison, Shovel Knight was a fun game. The checkpoints were plentifully and I could increase the difficulty by destroying them.

But when I played Hollow Knight I reached a point where I was just running to the boss and dying. Then again. And again. And again. I wasn’t getting better. And the time it took to get back just took too long and wasn’t fun. It wasn’t a rage quit. I was having fun at one point… But then the game wore me down and eventually it wasn’t.

I don’t think the game needs to change. Although I think adding difficultly modifiers would be a good idea. I played through Metroid Dread on normal difficulty and after beating it was having so much fun I immediately played it again on Hard difficulty. If there were a mode with more checkpoints in Hollow Knight and Silksong I might give them a shot.

  • Even with this lead time, some OEMs struggle to roll out security updates for all their devices each month. In fact, many don’t even commit to monthly security updates for their entire lineup; their update policies often stipulate that budget and mid-range devices only qualify for bi-monthly or quarterly patches.

Which is to say that most OEMs aren’t making monthly releases. It’s a sad state of affairs.

Google has put a lot of effort into making the process for OEMs easier. Project Trebel to simplify updates. Project Mainline to move updates to be pushed via Google Play. (The small downside being you now need Google Play, but users do now get security updates.

Now the answer seems to be fewer updates. OEMs weren’t doing them, but maybe if they’re smaller? It’s probably better that end users get some updates rather than none.

  • Let’s try flying.

You can fly, but you still have to put in the same amount of effort as if you couldn’t fly.

For example if you want to fly over a house it would be at the same speed as climbing a ladder and taking an equal amount of time.

Or if you wanted to fly a mile away it would be the same as running or walking a mile. Also if you want to carry someone or something, how fast could you move while doing it? Same as on the ground or in the air.

Basically you still get the convenience of flying, but you have to put in all the work.

  • Since the advent of the modern primary election system in 1972, an incumbent president has never been defeated by a primary challenger, though every president who faced a strong primary challenge went on to be defeated in the general election.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_challenge

Which is exactly why everyone said it was Biden’s decision. A strong primary challenger meant Biden would lose. Should Biden have been convinced to not seek re-election sooner? Yes. But that’s still his decision.

The time for Biden to step aside would have been right after the midterms. Maybe behind the scenes Harris tried to convince Biden, but she clearly failed. Maybe Biden really was at the top of his game and no one saw it until his debate performance, but I’m not sure anyone really believes that. Publicly Team Biden said he was doing backflips around the White House, but of course when the public saw him he was your typical old man.

So… whos to blame? I blame the Democratic party/DNC at large. It’s clear to me most people who vote Democrat want someone more progressive. The DNC would rather play it safe.

  • So Massie is probably being genuine here. Massie generally falls into the “libertarian” bucket, and the “tea party” bucket back when that existed.

Generally if you follow these ideologies you would view Trump as a complete shitbag of a person. Now he might be a useful shitbag and I think many so called “libertarians” probably see that. Although I think we’ve also seen many in Congress call him a shitbag and then turn around and lick his ass.

However another common trait is that these people are stubborn. That can be annoying if you’re trying to compromise and get things done. That can be adventagous if they have a genuine belief (assuming you agree with it).

In this case I think Massie wants the truth. Could he just collect and read a list of only Democrats, protecting Republicans? It’s possible. Do I think that will happen? Probably not.
