As much as people around these parts despise algorithmic feeds, I suspect an algorithmic feed would’ve worked far better in this situation to feed all academic based content to someone immediately on account creation if they show interest/ follow peers in the field.
This would’ve helped the migration since they most likely don’t know the accounts of the Twitter accounts posting academic content as that was algorithmically fed as well. I’m really doubtful it’s a problem with decentralization, seems to me mastodon had a problem with both not having a critical mass and the content that was there wasn’t easy enough to find.
Personally really been enjoying Kagi for the past year.
Spam implies it’s useless but it seems I can read my content from Reddit on that instance? While also staying on a single app and getting my regular lemmy threads.
Not sure why it’s a problem other than resource intensity, if the users have the option to block an instance as a whole it’s fine.
I don’t agree with them creating bot accounts and commenting on other instances posts though. Everything should be maintained within the instance.
The app experience is much better than the browser experience imo
Not OP but mostly for when content on one gets DMCA’d.
I only have Eweka and haven’t had any trouble finding any TV series or movies. No experience with audio books though, but I’d expect similar results since audiobooks are probably less strict with dmca than movies. I also don’t think Eweka respects dmca takedowns.
TikTok has video controls you can move to any part of the video. It also has 2x play speed.
This is actually the problem with mid sized communities. If there’s two political communities and their content is 70% overlapping then you’re obviously going to unsubscribe from one as your feed becomes cluttered. But then you’re missing that 30% of content from the other community.
Bans LGBT+ people
My fyp is full of bipoc LGBTQ+ people? Twitter on the other hand tries to feed me right wing news sources and disinformation all the time. There’s a spectrum here and TikTok is far on the other side.
Also to be frank the algorithm is by far the best out of any company with a “for you” algorithm. It blows pretty much anything else out of the water entirely.
Ghost cities are largely American propaganda and most have filled out to well urbanized areas. You can read quite a bit about it on the wiki
Guillotine.
Right now the US military and NASA is in agreement that UAPs exist, there’s thousands of citizens interested in UAPs/NHI, yet not a single scientist in the past 75 years wanted to find the answer to what these UAPs are?
Science in itself is debunking trivial bullshit until you find a rock solid solution and right now we don’t have a solution.
Ofc they do but they’re compartmentalized as hell.
Why do you think Bill Nelson himself is a career politician, not a scientist? These are political figures in these positions, not scientists.
Unfortunately NASA is not being transparent here. They created a UAP task force and would not reveal who was heading it and when it is released it turns out to be someone who’s spent his career with the DOD/Defense contractors. Not a scientist. Why are we not letting scientists handle this matter?
NASA also says they want to work to destigmatize UAPs and NHI, yet Bill Nelson slanders Grusch (highly decorated US military serviceman) and speaks down on anyone promoting more transparency here. The minimization of Grusch’s testimony all while the DOD is withholding Grusch’s security clearance and essentially stonewalling congress. Lots of reasons enough for us to be suspicious of foul play behind government figures here.

Isn’t the situation essentially equivalent to the flu at this point in time?
I’m choosing not to get any more boosters since my last one gave me severe side effects for 3 months, but would if absolutely necessary.
Nvidia shield is an option you should check out.
