  • Keeping skin pretty is completely out of the realm of reasons for religious coverings tho

Isn’t it? I assumed that that is a big reason that religions that start in a desert demand that all members, regardless of gender, cover most of their skin in clothing

“Son, wear your long sleeve shirt. You know how prone you are to sun burn.”

“But dad, it is so hot outside and my clothes are so stuffy and I will only be outside for 15 minutes, tops.”

“Well guess what, son. I just spoke to God and he told me that boys who don’t wear long clothes outside go to hell. That is why you turn red and painful from sunburn, to remind you that you will roast in hell.”

  • The article argues that extremist views and echo chambers are inherent in public social networks where everyone is trying to talk to everyone else. That includes Fediverse networks like Lemmy and Mastodon.

They argue for smaller, more intimate networks like group chats among friends. I agree with the notion, but I am not sure how someone can build these sorts of environments without just inviting a group of friends and making an echo chamber.

  • Tomatoes have been bad for us for the last couple of years. Last year, we got a good yield of cherry tomatoes but large tomatoes only started to ripen before the cold killed them. This year, we only planted cherry tomatoes and are just now getting the first few. My coworkers have confirmed that their tomatoes are also super late this year.

You are right about chives, asparagus, and berry bushes. Once those get established, you will have to work to keep them under control.

  • You still get company swag? In the 2010’s, I got a ton of it, but not anymore. Maybe it is just that the company I was working at got too cheap to give out swag and when I switched jobs, I joined another cheapskate, but I assumed that it was the same everywhere.

I have enough company and recruiter swag collected during the good years that I have not needed to buy t-shirts, especially because I generally wear a collared shirt over them, so I don’t care what logos and slogans they have.
