If you’re down for a bigfoot movie, I’d recommend Sasquatch Sunset, it was very odd, but very good.

I agree with you in premise, there is a general trend to over lore in modern sci-fi. Things can’t just be, they need some specific explanation.

This though, I didn’t hate. It’s always bothered me that aliens in sci-fi are just humans with shit on their face, their cultures are just aspects of our culture turned to the extreme, and every species’ technology is around the same level.

Having a progenitor species that seeded the galaxy and that’s why every intelligent species is basically the same is fine, basic but you know at least it makes sense and doesn’t need to come up again.

Why are they the same, because a wizard did it essentially.

Cory Doctorow is a writer who I want to love, i like the plot descriptions of his work and he seems like a really smart and with it person, but his writing style just doesn’t spark joy. It feels like work. IDK how to describe it, I just can’t get in the flow with his writing.

Infinite came out 3 years ago and though they’ve done updates and general live service garbage there haven’t been any major releases since. Halo isn’t a yearly release schedule, charging full price for the same game every year like sports games, so i’m not seeing the slop…
