I have two kids and use a bike (for ecological reasons). I realize I’m incredibly lucky my area has very good and safe biking infrastructure. Had to upgrade to a electric cargo bike when the second one came about, but I don’t regret at all, it’s more’confortable and safer for the kids. I do own an old ICE car, which I considered replacing with a new EV, but since I drive maybe a few hundreds of kilometers per year, I figured it’d make more sense to keep the old diesel than to replace it.

Turns out there is another trial in France right now, for pretty much the same thing, concerning the centrist party. Left-wing parties have had similar practices too. As much as I hate Marine, this was and is still a very general behaviour of all political parties to misuse available funds for their benefits.

I think some of them at least do it as a sign of protest against the French society. It’s normal when you are a teenager to want to defy your teachers and the school system. Of course this is somewhat used by religious preachers to gain power. But these types of law will not make the girls want to wear these clothes less, and may pressure them more into religion. Also, the extreme religious kids don’t usually go to the secular public school, there are religious schools in France. The true response to this issue is more social workers, more information about women’s rights for young girls, actual solutions for women who are attacked or pressured into religion, and a better economic and social integration of these population, regardless of the clothes they are wearing.

I considered it seriously even though I am fertile. The process is so complex, long and uncertain in my country (western Europe) that we chose to make new ones. Still considering to adopt when we get a bit older.
