Since you’re talking specifically about the presidential election, I actually am helping my candidate, since if I and others can get 1% of the popular vote for someone, then they can get easier access to ballots, debates, and federal funding next time.

I’ve always just voted for the guy I like best. I never felt that voting tactically was truthful.

Ultra-agree, the thing that really makes no sense here is softballing violence because it happens with an intimate partner.

If we treated it like every other violence you wouldn’t need a special one-off patch law since their rights would be automatically restricted by the prohibited person laws.

I actually believe that constitutionality is an important factor in our system of checks and balances.

Unfortunately we haven’t been very good at amending the constitution in recent history so we can’t add new checks and/or balances.

No one wants to do so because it means relinquishing some power, and possibly loosing marketshare uh I mean voter approval.

I do, however, still think that domestic violence exceeds a misdemeanor and should be a felony like any other assault.

The area this person was in is already an area where your rights are severely curtailed. You can be searched at any time, for instance.

I actually fully expect many of these laws to be struck down, eventually, as they are pretty clearly in violation of the new tradition scrutiny brought on by Bruen. Heller is probably already gearing up for it lol.

What I expect to stay is stuff like the ban on the Federal areas like the mall, as it would likely fall under the “sensitive places” allowance. It will be interesting to see if the Washington DC ban on carry in any place that holds an alcohol license covers that, however.

Personally, I think that if you set up a gun-free zone you should actually fence/wall it off and have security to ensure it stays that way. All the federal areas that prohibit carry are already 2A and 4A free zones, so it’s not really a stretch to move from “you may be searched at all times” to “you will be searched every time”.
