This website has a decent summary: https://manjarno.pages.dev/
TL:DR: Repeated dumb mistakes that a (relatively) big distro like Manjaro should not be making. Haven’t heard any drama in the past year or so though, so maybe they’ve finally gotten their act together. Time will tell.
For as much as Linux nerds (myself absolutely included) complain about distros like Ubuntu and Manjaro, I’d still take either one over Windows or MacOS any day.

Better Living Through Chemistry is so fucking good
Yeah, I think that’s definitely one of the roadblocks Lemmy is facing at the moment. Even though I deleted my Reddit account after the API nonsense, I’m absolutely still appending every DDG or Startpage search with “reddit.” Especially with the flood of AI-generated garbage filling search results, it’s the easiest way to get quick answers from (probably) real people.
However, that also relates to Reddit’s other advantage, in that it actually has a decade and a half of content to be indexed in the first place. The magic of Reddit is that every question has been asked in every way at least 5 times over, Lemmy just doesn’t have that history yet.
You are right, but it has also saved me a few times when hex bits/wrenches weren’t readily available.
I’ve used them very rarely, but I’ve never had one strip unlike everything beneath it so I can’t complain.
I could be talked into bumping Hex up to B, I just want it between Phillips and Robertson.
I don’t have any experience with Pozi screws in the US, but doing a quick search they look like a solid upgrade over Phillips, so I’m guessing I would agree if I actually used them.
In theory they’re good, but I’ve had a few too many allen/hex screws strip and having both SAE and metric standards is irritating. Tool quality has been an issue as well, I’ve had shitty Torx screwdrivers last for years and years while a decent allen wrench will snap or wear out way faster. Still miles better than Phillips though.
Edit: also you can use Torx bits on hex screws, so more points for Torx.
This is correct, Torx is easily the best standard. Robertson is an acceptable second.
Things are slowly improving, but public chargers do kinda suck right now. There’s an app called PlugShare that you can download which lets you see reviews for all chargers in your area. It’s saved some headaches a few times cause I can just avoid chargers with bad ratings.
Google has trained me to think “I wonder if that still exists” every time I remember one of their products.
The Google graveyard is vast.

Most of the “major” distros are probably made by red hat
“Most” being RHEL and Fedora??? Where the hell are you getting this from? Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, Suse, etc have nothing to do with Red Hat. Fedora isn’t even controlled by Red Hat, they own the distro but it’s community developed. The Fedora project has moved in directions counter to what Red Hat wants in the past.
Microsoft has successfully sabotaged the linux desktop by making gnome the default de.
my dude did you read the article that you linked?
All the links are working for me?
I mean, have you seen Gnome’s Gitlab issues? I swear people treat it like a Reddit comments section sometimes, which just wastes everyone’s time.
Can we reschedule? I have plans tonight
