I’ve been relistening to the Hardcore History episodes about World War 1, and Dan Carlin makes an interesting observation: Türkiye gets so pissy when you call what the Young Turks did the “Armenian genocide” but genocides are so common throughout history that it would be notable if a country didn’t commit one. Israel is also mad about calling what they’re doing in Gaza as a genocide, insisting that the 40,000 Gazans who have been killed were obviously Hamas, even 70% of which were women and children.

“Genocide” and “Nazi” are now odd words in English- they’re concepts that certain deplorable people have no qualms with idealizing and adhering to, as long as you don’t call them that.

So they let a Republican get elected… who wants them dead. And Ukraine dead. And Gaza dead. And women dead. And children dead.

They really stuck it to everyone, didn’t they?

If there was a “deep state” working to keep Trump from being elected, why would they have given him similar vote totals to 2020 yet given Harris less than Biden?

You’re conflating how someone feels about a situation, with whether that feeling is rational, then screaming about the “lIBeral ELiteS!” when that is pointed out to you.

People can feel whatever they want about the economy. The question is, should they feel that way? And by literally any possible way to measure that, the answer is no.

Or to put it another way, if I asked you why you feel the economy is bad, and you can’t point to anything to explain that it is (or flatly refuse to accept any explanation) that I give, then you should rightly be told you’re wrong, because you are.

Does it matter? This wouldn’t have happened without Trump being elected and the looking threat of tariffs. Whether the owner is using that as cover for jacking up the prices or not, it’s still a LAMF moment.
