I love an Arabic accent. Scottish accents are also beautiful in a rough way, as are Appalachian ones.

Avatar the last Airbender taught me to think when in conflict
Exactly. Insurance is best thought of as similar to gambling, but functionally the opposite. It’s “I’m giving you $x per month knowing that I’m probably going to lose money on this exchange, but in return if I’m hit with y disaster that it would be very difficult to financially recover from then you pay for it”.
I get that some people are frustrated by it during financial squeezes, and with liability insurance it can be annoying as it’s mandatory. But as someone who’s gotten a renter’s insurance payout, the relief of “thank fuck I’m not out thousands of dollars while having to deal with this disaster” is immense

Oh it’s simple, you keep going because you know you’ll be unable to get back up for months if you stop.
Left libertarianism is great and serves as an effective counterbalance to many issues. Right libertarianism is often foolish at best and rarely includes the freedom to do things like live your life as you please

Holy shit that’s hilariously bad

I know right‽ You’ve got people marching with swastikas in America and nope a children’s entertainer because she recognizes the humanity of Palestinians.

They really don’t see how their calling everyone an antisemite for opposing their genocide puts Jews outside Israel at risk. Like, there used to be the claim that Israel was necessary to ensure all the Jews of the world are safe through diplomacy, military, and a country that will take them as refugees. But these days they make a clear case that Israel should not exist while ignoring the swastika wavers to focus on denouncing people who believe Palestinians shouldn’t be victims of crimes against humanity.

I don’t have independence, I have a wife instead. Could I be independent of her? Sure, but we really would rather that not be needed.

Also ya know, he maybe should stop considering nixon a role model. Sure he knew his way around a spirit, but you gotta show up to work sober and quit with the war crimes and the whole using the military against civilians thing. It’s not just fireable and hanging offenses, it’s also loser shit.

As an ex catholic, this sort of thing is part of why it’s so hard to fully separate myself from them. They’ve done so much evil, but right now they’re doing exactly the good I was scared they may not.
Just waiting for Vance to be excommunicated.
We had to fight tooth and nail for even that.
But fr I think the biggest error was that we didn’t demand working hours be cut in half during women’s liberation. The idea that one person can spend half their time working for pay to provide for themselves and a kid or two, so two people can provide for a full family together and have time to split the domestic labor is key.
I had to stop running like that because my body is much better for looking at than doing things with. But I switched to biking that way and yeah. 4 hours on a bicycle after work every night can almost approximate a monthly therapy session. And what it fails to give in mental health it gives in an ass. Jesus fuck I miss that ass.

May be possible.
“A far future construction of a dyson sphere may be possible, but remains highly unlikely.”
Quite/entirely/absolutely necessary. Quite is better for the negative while the other two are better for the positive.
“It’s not quite necessary that you bring a dish to the potluck, but it is requested that all who can do so”
“It’s absolutely necessary that you file your taxes by the deadline lest you risk an audit”

The word for R Studio fan is “scientist”
Oh she knew. Even before they got married everyone warned her that jfk wasn’t suited to monogamy.
I really wish teachers understood that the correct response to that is “yes, but that’s something you’ll be learning later, for now we’re going to not deal with that.” That’s how my Jr high math teacher dealt with me forgetting algebra and attempting to invent calculus because the rate of change seemed the easiest solution to the problem.
That said, I’ve met education students. You’ve got some bright people who really love kids or teaching, but you’ve got plenty of people who never really understood stem subjects. It was a revelation to learn that yeah a lot of grade school teachers don’t get math.
I wish teachers like that actually learned from these experiences
Animals are a specific lineage of eukaryotic multicellular (mostly) organisms that lack cell walls.
The problem with evolution is that it likes to make exceptions to any descriptor based taxonomy. Any taxonomic category will ultimately be attempting to say “this genetic lineage”. If a sea sponge species eventually develops chlorophyll and cell walls it’ll still be an animal, but just a really fucking confusing one.
Nah I’m an American and didn’t think of Kenyan but seeing it mentioned and yeah they’ve got gorgeous accents.
