It can’t be enforced outside of their borders. And it’s barely enforceable inside of them. Matrix chat will probably get more popular. Proton, and other private email services, will still exist. This seems like people who don’t understand tech trying to regulate it.
ETA: if you think this is enforceable, look at how common piracy still is despite it being illegal in most places. VPNs, onion routing, alternative DNS, etc.
Asange plays favorites and has an agenda. I want him to expose all the shady activities, not just the stuff he thinks will help Trump win an election.
“There’s a new war going on, is this affecting my investments?!” - some capitalists I assume.
US State Dept. Officials Told Not to Use Terms ‘De-Escalation/Cease-Fire’ About Gaza - just… big sigh.
According to HuffPost, which reviewed official emails, “State Department staff wrote that high-level officials do not want press materials to include three specific phrases: ‘de-escalation/cease-fire,’ ‘end to violence/bloodshed,’ and ‘restoring calm.’”
That’s a bummer. Just about every pharmacy and shipping store in the US also has a print shop inside of it. And our libraries do cheap printing too. So even if you’re in the boonies you’re usually only a few minutes away from something.
If you only need to print a few pages a month or year, send them to a corner store or Walgreens or something. It’s just not worth it. I’m assuming the average person needs to print 10 pages or less a year, and this is why there isn’t a big push to fix this problem. I think the last time I needed to print something was in 2021.
Yeah they burned me a few times in the past by acquiring games/studios and breaking their Linux compatibility immediately after getting them. I’ll hold this grudge for decades.
I wonder what could have provoked an attack like. Perhaps decades of oppressive occupation. Constantly escalating violence isn’t going to fix this. But Israel is the side that can choose to end it by ending apartheid. All the imprisoned can do to improve their situation is try to fight out of it.
It’s not inevitable, you could stop apartheid.
Apple doesn’t ship consumer systems with dedicated GPUs in them and they’re on their own custom silicon now. Developing cross platform games for them must be a major PITA.
How many more shows can they buy the rights for and then do one half-assed season of? Surely they’re running out of ip.
Loading Ready Run streams a lot of stuff. And you might like the dessert bus for hope fundraiser happening in November.
They burned a lot of good will. With these changes, existing games won’t switch engines. But everybody doing new development will be looking at other options. Not sure if retroactive fees would have ever survived a court case, but smaller devs won’t have the energy to fight it out.
The Stanley Parable, the whole game.
This is cool as hell. But I feel like having a supply of potable water in space is kinda difficult?
I guess you could run guacamole for this? It would be a full rdp session then. https://guacamole.apache.org/
Not currently in the open source space, although that is a possibility in the near future. But all the software I’ve made in the last several years targeted Linux anyway (except for UIs but those are web or react native). I reached the point where I was tired of dealing with windows and macOS at work. So I switched jobs and started making this a requirement. I ask about it in the first interview with any possible employer.
Probably not something you want to do when you’re a Jr Dev, but props if you can convince them. When you become a sr/principal/architect level most employers give you a lot of flexibility.
Yes, I have the framework laptop because it’s designed to be Linux compatible. I put pop_os on it and everything just worked with no tweaking.
My employer didn’t truly provide it. Using Linux is one of my hiring requirements and they told me to provide my own machine. But employers should really look at framework machines if they want something repairable.
Games like Baldur’s Gate assume you have at least some DnD experience. I remember playing Neverwinter Nights for the first time long ago and being really glad I played one session of DnD before it.
