  • One other thing you may have to do if you have contributors who have also committed code is to get their permission to change the license as well, as the code they committed may still be under their copyright and not yours, and they can choose to allow their code to be relicensed or not. Some projects use a contributor release to reassign copyright for contributions for reasons like this, for instance. This is partly the reason why the Linux kernel has never changed to GPLv3 and still uses GPLv2 (and also because Linus just doesn’t like some provisions of the GPLv3) — it would be pretty much impossible to get everyone who contributed code to a project as large as the kernel to agree to a license change. Any code that couldn’t be changed would need to be extracted and rewritten, and that’s not going to happen given the sheer size of the code base.

If you don’t have other contributors then you’re home free. You can’t retroactively change licenses to existing copies of the code that have been distributed, but you can change it going forward.

  • Pizza, any Asian food, occasionally eggs although I prefer vinegar based stuff like Tapatio generally for that… sriracha is a very versatile sauce. It’s not overly hot and just has that famous sriracha tang to it.

Lately I’ve been purchasing Firebarns brand as Huy Fung has been a bit more difficult to find around these parts and frankly some of their business practices have been questionable, with them not paying pepper suppliers and were sued and lost to that effect. Firebarns is quite good though, perhaps not quite as thick as Huy Fong, but that’s a matter of preference.

  • I had a car broken into, but there wasn’t anything worth taking, so they slashed a tire on their way out. Luckily they left enough clear fingerprints that they were actually ID’d and had to pay for my slashed tire. They had broken into several cars in the area and I guess their fingerprints on my window was their undoing.

Frankly it was more insulting that they didn’t think any of my stuff was worth taking. :/

  • As a Canadian, I’ve been hoping for a Stan Roger’s biopic but I know that’s pretty niche. He was a folk singer who started making some waves when he died in a cabin fire on an Air Canada flight coming back from Texas to Canada in 1983 when he was only 33. His songs became part of the Canadian music tradition, as he generally wrote songs based on Canadian topics and issues. Most recently there were some fun clips of Stephen Colbert asking some guests if they knew any of his songs, like Michael Buble (who as a Canadian did indeed) and Jack White (who somewhat surprisingly also did, but is less surprising when you know that two of his grandparents were born and raised in Nova Scotia). Stan’s brother Garnett Rogers wrote a phone book-sized memoir of their time on the road touring that has plenty of material to pull from, and I always figured it would make a great music biopic, at least for Canadians. Our own Walk the Line or Ray.
