Knowing Microsoft? Subscription push or subject you to ads and/or other limitations. Windows 11 already does a ton of spying on you…
First? I already had my first and my second. 😅
I use onedrive because you can get like 6TB of space included with Office for like $99/year. Second choice would be backblaze.
Out of curiosity, as someone thinking about starting a cloud/hosting provider, what features would make a huge difference to you beyond price? I do plan to have some pretty amazing pricing for individuals/small businesses, but beyond that….
it hates adblockers ironically enough.
Website advertising and subscription revenue for websites I have owned for years. Spouse income as well.
I am unemployed and have been for many months. I have never had issues finding a job, but finding one lately has been impossible. I know of 3 others in the same boat as I. I think that a recession is inevitable at this point. Lucky for me, I have other sources of income. I did have to drastically cut back spending, however.
I haven’t seen the alien.top stuff yet, but I had a friend that was working on a reddit bridge project that implements api over html for old reddit and new reddit. The idea was that you could target the api and make the client compatible with both reddit and lemmy. (The API is similar to Lemmy’s)
I got to play with it before he shelved it, and it worked great.
This seems like a better approach than the one they are trying to take.
Lemmy also needs a mechanism for linking your reddit user id (and twitter, and…) with your active lemmy id so users can find each other easier. I am surprised we don’t already have this with mastodon. Twiiter oauth is (used to be? I haven’t touched it in a couple years ) like a 5 minute thing to implement. Reddit apparently also supports oauth.
If you can sign into lemmy via a reddit login path, you could also do some other fun/interesting stuff.
Regardless, I don’t really see a need for any of it.
Lemmy has its own set of issues to deal with.
You can, but it is difficult. Spam prevention has made life hard for those that want to host email.
Our electric company charges 25% more for renewables.
Adnauseum clicks are easily detected and filtered out. Google stopped this nonsense a long time ago. As others have said, it also makes it dead simple to track you.
I use Arch, bt…fuck.
This.
Also, if you are a biological male you have no right to any opinion about abortion whatsoever, much less the ability to make it illegal.
My Apple TV has no ads.
How much is Comcast charging you compared to the fiber? If I were in that position I would have decided differently (assuming I owned the property) as the difference for me peaked at $150/mo. Even more if I chose a slightly cheaper plan…and I have AT%T fiber, not municipal.
The M3 was announced yesterday: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/10/everything-to-know-about-apples-new-m3-m3-pro-and-m3-max-processors/
It will be out before these chips are. So will next gen x86-64 chips, Zen 5 at least, and possibly Intel Arrow Lake depending on timing.
Doesn’t that depend on the wishes of said SO? 😏🚨
Not me, I want them to know I am asserting dominance.
