Yes, people were hating on shadow banning, but this is ever worse as it will happen to you even if you did nothing wrong. All you had to do is choose the wrong instance, which everyone said it didn’t matter what you picked at the beginning.
Because Reddit unites everyone with the same interest in a single or at worst few subreddits. Lemmy has over 9000 instances with a bunch of communities each, half of which are defederating the other half without their users even knowing. If we thought reddit search was bad, lemmy search is non-existent. I really wanted lemmy to work, but even for someone with decent knowledge about tech it was a nightmare to figure this out. The main advantage of fediverse which is the decentralization turned out to be its main disadvantage with so much fragmentation and censorship in the form of defederation…
At work I guess you only do work related stuff, so at the end of the day it’s only work-related data that the browser has access to. Why would it matter to you?
99.9% of my the personal browsing I do is in firefox both on phone and desktop, but on work laptop I use Edge because 1. the work web-apps seem to favour chromium based browsers and 2. it’s not my data so I don’t really care about the privacy of my company’s data, they have a data privacy officer to worry about that.
When they will get stuck with stock because ppl are going for discount unsold stuff that can’t be destroyed anymore, they will be forced to stop overproducing.
As long as EVs are based on the same crappy battery tech that we have in the phones that we know dies in like 3-4 years in good conditions they won’t help us much.
Until we can power them with something better like hydrogen for example, we should start cutting emissions elsewhere, like private jets, or heating up/cooling down useless inefficient glass office buldings that people don’t need anyway since they can work from home and save the cost, time and emissions from the commute as well.
Forcing EVs right now with the crappy batteries will only get us faster to li-ion scarcity. Not to mention the battery fires that can’t be extinguished, reduced capacity in cold climates and slow recharge time.
The aqara endpoints I have are solid. But one aqara mains powered relay is causing delays with an aqara door sensor when connected to it. Aqara implemented some strange stuff in some of their zigbee devices
Niche for common people, but very much used by privacy concerned tech ppl. F-droid is a thing and so is obtainium, 2 play store alternatives that are side-loaded and give access to FOSS apps.
So maybe don’t release a model until you have at least a decent amount of units? Still doesn’t explain why cars are any different than other products that are scalped. Why are they not lobbying to create laws against such practices?
How about the manufacturer builds enough stock so scalping makes no sense? I believe that if I buy a product I am entitled to do whatever I want with it as long as it doesn’t brake the law. I hate scalping too, no1 did anything when it happened to GPUs or consoles or toilet paper during covid, so why are cars special?

Oh, you would pay in blood if you tried
I think you can set a custom user agent in about:config, but obviously isn’t as conveniant as a quick toggle from an extension.
Firefox nightly on android supported desktop extensions for quite some time. It wasn’t that easy to install them, but once I did they worked fine. Maybe a bit more slugish than on pc, but that’s expected given the resources limitations on mobile.
F-droid, too bad it can’t be found on play store. Google wouldn’t shoot themselves in the foot like that
Sure, but in that case you pay for the OS through the overly inflated price of the device that brings mediocre warranty and pathetic options for repair. It’s a tradeoff.
I agree, subscriptions are stupid. But for now I am still using my windows 7 key on windows 11 so they were more than reasonable up until now.
I could see them adding windows as part of Microsoft 365 package they sell to businesses. Companies always had a different policy when it comes to software, that’s where most of the software companies make most of their money. It’s why piracy was allowed for so long, consumers get used to the software through the pirated version, then they demand it at work which can’t use pirated software obviously.
Except that you can keep upgrading windows or just install linux and be up to date with the security patches for like 10+ years, your phone runs out of support in like 5-6 years in the best case and then good luck using these banking apps securely.
There are many devices that use 2g for data, not just energy meters. ATMs, card payment terminals, alarms, gps trackers, all sorts of qpplications that don’t need a lot of data and can benefit from the better coverage/range of 2g.
For any camera to see IR, there must be IR light there to be seen. LIDAR and proximity sensors emit their own light, but TIL tesla doesn’t have any… Great tech…my 300€ vacuum bot has LIDAR… Ofc it doesn’t go 130KM/h in the dark, but I was 99.99% sure any self-driving car had the bare minimum of sensors, but I guess Tesla isn’t one of them.
