No but for real, wtf is this thing?
Damn, you take your noodles very seriously.
What the fuck is that hideous font.
Ravens are pretty big birds. I don’t think that’s a hatchling but it sure isn’t anywhere near an adult.
Sometimes I put peanuts on top of my peanut butter toast.

Android@lemdro.id•GrapheneOS could break Pixel exclusivity in 2026 with major OEM dealEnglish
4·8 months agoI would assume it will, if the SoC performance is in the same ballpark. Pixels have good NPU specs but their CPU, GPU and RAM feel like mid range options compared to snapdragons. So I don’t think that’s a high bar to hit. I don’t run graphene because I’m not buying a google phone, but I would consider running it on something else.

4·8 months agoI actually think this could be it. Nokia has always been a little adventurous with their operating systems, and I think they are eager to claw back their old reputation.

3·8 months agoI had this issue at work, I was able to fix it by using the windows media creation tool instead of just writing the iso to the drive. Not sure why that worked, but it has every time so far.

Technology@lemmy.world•How to Get Hardware Transcoding BACK on Your Synology NASEnglish
1·9 months agoA thin client for a NAS? That’s a hard no for me. Take the GPU out if you don’t need it, put a more efficient PSU and it will sip power as long as you aren’t running 27 virtual machines on it. I guess it’s more space than a thin client, but I have no idea how you are getting multiple HDDs or SSDs in a tc. USB is trash at long term data storage, and having a bunch of external drives and cables isn’t superior to a slightly bigger box. Not to mention anything that’s actually sold as a thin client probably won’t run ZFS very well if at all. If it’s not ZFS and it’s not hardware raid what the hell is the point of having network storage? Save the TC for a docker host or host a VM on your NAS that it can connect to instead.

101·9 months agoTrueNAS. More control for slightly more work up front. Hardware will be easier to maintain. Lots of gamer desktops that won’t run Win11 available that probably have enough SATA ports to get the job done.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What do you think is the best (and cheapest) way to host a new nextcloud instance and website for my local scouts organisation?English
2·9 months agoI personally think this is a better idea than an old laptop. Easier to work on if the fan or SSD ever dies, and the cooling is a little better than any cheaper laptops I have worked on. It also wouldn’t need to be a NUC, basically every PC company makes a SFF or 1L sized computer, I’m partial to the Lenovo but the Dell’s are pretty nice too. I have about 8 Lenovo that are used as mini servers between home and work, on 24/7

1·9 months agoI understand what you’re saying, but I think the user counts and usages would matter big time. I used to run it on the smallest plan DO offered, but I haven’t in a few years now. No idea if the usage requirements have grown over time, and that was just for 2 users. I know a lot of people run it on a NAS in a VM or container, that’s not exactly a dedicated machine either.

3·9 months agoLook into digital ocean. They have pretty cheap hosting, like $6 a month last time I checked. You used to be able to get a month for free too. If it looks like a good option I can probably rustle you up a referral code.

2·9 months agoI’ve been using Qobuz for a few years. I’m on android and the car app is fine, but not amazing. I haven’t had any drop outs but I choose CD quality on cell service and download a lot of my favorite albums.

I started learning some qt and python and apparently it’s pronounced cute.
