Are you an Iraqi in Iraq? I am an ex-iraqi but have lived in the Nordics majority of my life. People here don’t talk much about the country, but the few tourists that go there go to Erbil and only have good things to say about it.

I couldn’t get into it for the life of me, despite several attempts. I am happy for those who enjoyed it - seems like a chill game.
If you don’t mind clutter free, simple presentations, try hack.md or cryptpad. Both supports markdown styled presentations, both are FOSS cloud applications and the format of the presentation is highly portable.
If you want to get really ambitious, try marp framework for presentations - still markdown but on steroids.

Some are forced to use windows due to workplace requirements or software only running on windows. I run linux everywhere I can, but don’t always have the choice.
Whatever model you buy, avoid the newer L-series.
Don’t forget KISS launcher. It’s excellent, albeit a little rough around the edges.
I don’t organise events much, but heard of https://gancio.org/ which is supposed to be much easier to host than Mobilizon. Just throwing in another alternative.
I switched to it one year ago from nova launcher, after getting used to the change, I don’t miss nova at all.
NPP is indispensable, it is the Windows killer-app.

Thanks for this. I think this is also an example of a opensource software that is selfhostable, but is intended for a different audience. I think Zammad, Monicahq etc fall under this category. I suppose one would need a solution with an entirely different architecture that’s aimed for selfhosters, rather than hope that omnivore becomes easier to selfhost.
Can you elaborate on your experiences so far? What’s required in order to selfhost it, and what features will be missing…?
I used and paid for wallabag, but it lacks so many basic features it was a pain to use. Just trying to tag articles was a chore, since wallabag doesn’t suggest existing tags.
Nocodb can run locally as it is distributed as a binary (among other formats).
I’m curious, what distro where you running? And do you run on hardware that’s known to be incompatible with Linux?

The risk that @regalpotoo mentioned is still unmitigated though, single user instance or not. At worst, the personal data can be exfiltrated. At best, the server can be used as a part of a botnet. Even if the software (nextcloud) would be patched, that doesn’t help against exploits on a OS level.
Granted, one could run services inside a vpn and have some kind of preventive / monitoring controls, but you’re still need to implement some kind of defense in depth in order to protect it.
This is the answer. Joplin and obsidian are excellent for markdown notes, but theyr arent suitable for “jot whatever, anywhere”.
